FortifyFL

From the Florida Department of Education:

The Florida Department of Education announced that the FortifyFL app is now LIVE. Any student, educator, parent or member of the public can report school safety concerns directly to law enforcement and school administrators anonymously through the FortifyFL app orwww.getfortifyfl.comfor free.

Any tips submitted via FortifyFL will be sent directly to local school and district officials along with law enforcement officers. To ensure that action steps are taken, all tips will be monitored and staff will be contacted where no action is evident. The Florida Legislature directed this tool's development in the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act with the intent of increasing safety within our schools.

The app, which is available for download on Apple and Android mobile devices, is critical to ensuring all Florida schools are safe environments where students and educators can experience and share the joy of learning without fear.

Mission Statement

Lake City Middle School will educate all students in a safe and supportive learning environment that will develop life-long learners and productive citizens. We are one school, one team, with one goal, which is to prepare our students socially, emotionally and academically for high school.

Attendance Protocols
  1. Absences due to medical conditions must be attested to, in writing, by a licensed physician, dentist, optometrist or care provider to school officials within two (2) days of the student's return to school.

  2. Parent Documented Excuses - within two (2) school days after returning, any student who has been absent from school shall bring a note from his parent/guardian. Failure to bring a note within two (2) days shall result in an automatic unexcused absence.

  3. A parent may document three (3) excused days of absences per grading period. All absences in excess of three (3) days during the grading period not otherwise recognized as excused by state law shall be unexcused.

  4. Please avoid using sticky notes and paper that is as small as a sticky note. These can be lost very easily.
